CHS Student Scoring Big Against Hunger
Charlottesville High School Senior (Bridget) Molly Folger has created Scoring Goals to End Hunger, a community service project to raise $10,000 for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. She has already raised over $5000 dollars, which will go to the local BackPack program that sends food home with children in need. Molly has raised funds through individual and corporate donations. She raised $200 by setting up a table at the homecoming game and she plans to do the same at upcoming soccer games. She also has a Facebook page and a YouTube video to garner support.
Because of her efforts, Molly has been entered into the Julie Foudy Sports Leadership “Choose to Matter” Contest. The winner will be sent to the Olympics in London as a Junior Ambassador. The contest is decided by online voting and Molly is currently in 3rd place. People can vote online at the Julie Foudy Sports Leadership web site: http://contest.juliefoudyleadership.com/projects/scoring-goals-end-hunger. There is a challenge donation that awards $500 to her cause when she reaches 1000 votes. The voting ends on February 21, 2012 at midnight PST.
