CHSO Members Fill Regional Orchestra Spots
Twelve CHS Orchestra members earned selection for the South Central Senior Regional Orchestra at auditions held September 24. Nearly 250 students from one-quarter of Virginia auditioned for 84 string chairs in the orchestra. Three of the eight bass players who earned selection for SRO are from Charlottesville High School.
Selected for the orchestra are: Guthrie Brown, Sasha Dickey, Vivek Srivatsa, Shaarada Srivatsa, Lana Womack, and Rebecca Schectman, violin; Zoe Rosner, viola; Isabelle Schoppa and Malloy Owen, cello, and Johnny Little, Addison Josey, Sam Campbell, bass and Erik Quigg, contrabassoon. These students are now eligible to audition for the 2012 All-Virginia Orchestra in the spring. Claire Thompson earned first alternate, cello.
The South Central Senior Regional Orchestra will convene November 11-12 at Clover Hill High School in Chesterfield. Renowned conductor Anthony Maiello will serve as guest conductor for the event.
