Local GED Graduates Overcome Barriers, Reach Succes

There will be 210 GED graduates from Charlottesville, Albemarle, Greene and Nelson counties honored this year at the Regional GED Graduation Ceremony on October 25 at 7 p.m. at the MLK Jr. Performing Arts Center at Charlottesville High School. The Keynote Speaker will be Laura Anderson, Director of Piedmont House and author of Anatomy of an Execution.

Governor Bob McDonnell has declared October 17 -21 as GED and Career Pathways Awareness Week leading up to Regional GED Graduation on October 25.  More than 27,000 adults in our area do not have a high school level credential.  GED week will emphasize the benefits of high school completion to the adult’s life as a worker, family member and citizen and demonstrate the important connection between education and workforce development.
