Clark Students Sit for Good to Raise Awareness, Funds
What began as a cultural lesson for students at Clark Elementary School developed into a schoolwide campaign that helped build schools for students in Uganda. The students engaged in a variety of activities, including collecting coins, selling pencils, and holding a bake sale in order to raise funds for Building Tomorrow, an international organization that supports projects for children in sub-Saharan Africa.
Besides raising $ 682.05, students learned about Uganda and its culture. Special visitors who have designed a school in Uganda visited to talk about their experiences.
On December 17, students experienced a school day as many Ugandan students do, as part of Building Tomorrow’s “Sit for Good” campaign. The campaign asks participating teachers and students to give up their desks and other classroom resources for a day to raise awareness about conditions in Uganda.
