Walker Upper Elementary Students Raise Funds Through Mathathon
87 Walker Upper Elementary students raised $5,749.94 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by participating in St. Jude's MATHATHON. This diverse group of students collected pledges from family and friends for each math problem completed. Once the pledges were received, each student received a Math Heroes Funbook which contained approximately 200 math problems. The students had seven days to complete the fun problems and puzzles. This is the second year Walker students have participated in the Mathathon exceeding last year's fundraiser by over $1,200.00.
Rebecca Stoner, 5th grade teacher and Brad Taylor 6th grade teacher were the MATHATHON sponsors for this fund raiser. They are very proud of these students and their commitment to helping others.
