Charlottesville High School’s Charlottesville Singers Earn Superior Rating at Choral Festival
Congratulations to the Charlottesville Singers of Charlottesville High School. The choir participated in the 2006 Virginia Music Educators Association/Virginia Choral Directors Association District XIII Choral Festival, March 16-17, 2006, and received a “superior” rating from each of the three judges for its performance. The choir performed Crossing the Bar by Campfield, If Music Be the Food of Love by Dickau, and The Pasture by Stroope.
Two members of the Charlottesville Singers have been selected for membership into the All-Virginia Chorus (All-State Choir). Casey McCarty and Jason Sutton both auditioned along with over 100 students from 14 area high schools for selection to the choir. Casey’s audition scores place her number one in the soprano section and Jason’s scores place him number one in the bass section. Of the 100 students who auditioned, only 24 are selected (8 soprano, 8 alto, 4 tenors and 4 bass) to represent the District XIII in the All-Virginia Chorus. These students will rehearse with the 384 students selected from around the state in Chesapeake VA, April 27-29, 2006 and give a concert on April 29, 2006.
The choir is under the direction of Mr. Jonathan K. Spivey.
