Charlottesville High School Orchestra Triumphant in Atlanta

The Charlottesville High Schools Orchestras earned two superior ratings, first and second place in the Atlanta Fiesta-Val Competition on April 21 at the Clayton County Performing Arts Center. The 103-member combined CHS String Orchestra won first place in Division 5, and the 44 member CHS String Ensemble earned second place in Division 6, the most difficult division of music. Both CHS Orchestras earned the highest ranking of superior from all three judges. CHS placed ahead of two Westfield High School (Fairfax, Virginia) Orchestras. The full symphonic orchestra from Robinson High School (also Fairfax) took first place in the grade 6 category.

While in Atlanta, orchestra members toured the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, the newly-opened Georgia Aquarium, ESPN Zone, and 6 Flags Over Georgia.
