Videotaping / Viewing Services

IMS provides taping of all Instructional Television programming available through our PBS affiliates, WVPT in Harrisonburg and WCVE in Richmond. Titles of programs are identified on the station websites with descriptions and correlations to the SOL. Teachers receive a monthly ITV newsletter and have access to study guides from the building media center. Teachers may request taped programs via email to IMS. These are delivered daily to schools through the CCS pony system.

WCVE: http://www.ideastations.org

IMS also tapes all Department of Education Staff Development Telecasts (see Bibliographies) and teacher requests for network or cable educational programs. Fair Use Guidelines of the Copyright Law are to be followed when showing these programs (see Copyright). Each school media center receives monthly copies of Cable in the Classroom, which provide program listings.

IMS is equipped to receive satellite transmission, which provides educational programming from the Prince William Network, Fairfax Network and the Colonial Williamsburg Electronic Field Trips.

Audio and Video dubbing services are also available through IMS.

The following are guidelines and forms related to taping and viewing media in the Charlottesville City Schools. Please note that use of any instructional medium in any format including digital must be related to instruction with documented objectives. Viewing of any type may not be for entertainment or reward.
