One of the recommendations from the Efficiency Review conducted by MGT of America was to close a school building. That recommendation generated considerable public discussion for most of the 2009 year.
At the October 27 meeting to narrow the proposed options from four to two, workshop participants unanimously endorsed keeping the school division as it is (Option 1) and Option 4, which calls for a pK-5 elementary school configuration and one 6-8 middle school.
The superintendent took the group's preferences to the School Board on November 5 and the Board asked for evaluations and financial data related to Option 4 and other suggested changes to existing facilities. These options will be fully explored through additional research as well as staff and community meetings.
For details on past meetings and the options being considered, you can review the October 27 handouts.
