Early Closing August 29 due to Road Closures
The Charlottesville City School Division has been notified by the Charlottesville City Police Department that on Wednesday, August 29, several roads in and around Charlottesville will be closed to accommodate President Obama’s visit to Charlottesville. The road closures will significantly impact our ability to transport students home. Therefore, schools will be closing early on Wednesday, August 29, according to the following dismissal schedule.
Dismissal Times
- Classes for three-year-old children ‑ 11:30 a.m.
- Walker and Buford schools (5-8) ‑ 12 o’clock noon.
- Elementary Schools (preK-4) ‑ 12:30 p.m.
- Charlottesville High School (9-12) ‑ 1 p.m.
All after-school activities are canceled. The CLASS after-school program will be open from dismissal and close at its normal time. Parents who are driving to pick up children should be aware of travel advisories via the local press as details are publicized. We appreciate your assistance as we make these necessary adaptations.
